With a gain of 100 million with Cominar, businessman George Armoyan acquires 10% of Th\u00e9rapeutique Knight<\/p>

After making a profit of nearly $100 million in less than two years with Cominar during the pandemic, Montreal businessman George Armoyan is turning his attention to another Quebec company.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

<\/p>

This time, he pays tens of millions to buy shares of Therapeutic Knight, a Montreal pharmaceutical company.<\/p>

The 10% stake in Knight he just reported to regulators is worth around $60 million at the current stock price.<\/p>

The entrepreneur and investor who has dabbled in real estate as well as transportation and energy over the years has thus become one of Knight's largest shareholders, behind in particular the founder and executive chairman of the board of company, Jonathan Goodman.<\/p>

George Armoyan had hesitated for a long time last year before lining up behind the takeover offer aimed at closing the capital of Cominar. Having quickly become the largest unit holder with a stake of more than 10%, he had started buying shares of Cominar at the start of the pandemic in 2020. He had had a good time buying when the value of the share had depreciated greatly on the stock market and was hovering around $7.<\/p>\n

Investisseur anticonformiste tra\u00eenant une r\u00e9putation de militant, George Armoyan disait avoir vu en Cominar un titre significativement sous-\u00e9valu\u00e9 par rapport \u00e0 la valeur nette des actifs et un portefeuille immobilier renfermant un fort potentiel. Il n\u2019a jamais cach\u00e9 avoir \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9tonn\u00e9 que Cominar ferme son capital en acceptant une offre qui selon lui \u00e9tait \u00a0\u00bb au rabais \u00ab\u00a0.<\/p>\n

The closing of the capital carried out at the unit price of $11.75 nevertheless allowed George Armoyan to achieve a significant gain in a relatively short time.<\/p>\n

A good CA<\/strong>
Mr. Armoyan says he started accumulating shares of Knight shortly before Christmas. The adopted Montrealer says he doesn't want a seat on Knight's board of directors, at least for now.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00bb Peut-\u00eatre un jour, mais je n\u2019ai pas besoin d\u2019\u00eatre au conseil si je ne crois pas pouvoir contribuer. Le conseil d\u2019administration de Knight est tr\u00e8s bon et m\u2019impressionne. J\u2019en connais peu sur ce secteur d\u2019activit\u00e9. Mais je serai en dialogue constant avec la direction et je vais apprendre \u00ab\u00a0, dit-il.<\/p>\n

George Armoyan adds that Jonathan Goodman does not work because he needs the money. \u201cHe believes in the company and he wants it to achieve success similar to that of Paladin Labs. \"<\/p>\n

Before founding Knight in 2014, Jonathan Goodman co-founded and led Paladin Laboratories, a pharmaceutical company acquired by Endo Health in 2013 for 3.2 billion.<\/p>\n

Knight's business model revolves around the acquisition under license of distribution rights for medical products intended for the Canadian market and selected international markets.<\/p>\n

Knight had been the subject of a circular battle in 2019. That year, shareholders had been called upon to choose between the directors suggested by Knight or those proposed by a dissident and disappointed ex-director and shareholder who notably criticized Knight to sit on its cash.<\/p>\n

Knight's stock is currently near its floor price. The stock closed at $5.07 on the Toronto Stock Exchange on Tuesday. It was worth over $10 in 2017.<\/p>\n
